Services we offer

Meet Rachel Smith
Hello, I’m Rachel, the founder and lead organizer of Kiwi Decluttering & Organizing Services.
I am a fellow Kiwi (New Zealander) that found roots in the beautiful town of San Clemente, California along with my husband.
After running my own successful cleaning business for over seven years, I discovered a deeper passion: decluttering & organizing! Throughout the years, I found myself naturally drawn to helping clients bring order & organization into their homes.
I have assisted many who were truly overwhelmed by the sheer volume of their belongings & have seen firsthand how powerful “decluttering” can be.
Many get caught up on the pretty containers & fancy products but in reality in order to truly experience the benefits we need to start by decluttering which means – reducing the excess.
I offer one on one help that adopts a non-judgmental & practical approach. I have worked with families to professional working couples to the elderly. Depending on the size or complexity of the job, I have excellent trustworthy resources to get the job done.
I would love to hear from you. Feel free to send me an email or call me for a friendly chat about your organizing needs.
FAQs
What to expect from the initial consultation?
This is a friendly meet & greet to get to know you more & understand your circumstances. Questions about your needs & preferences will be discussed along with talk about your goals & priorities.
After an assessment of the space this allows me to determine how to create a functional system that will work for you & your day to day routine. It may include taking measurements of the space & talking about useful products that could be utilized.
What education & training do you have in organizing?
In addition to helping many individuals & families over the years tackle their clutter; I have a Professional Organizing Certification from IAP College, this course enabled me to have insight into the many facets of organizing. I have many years of background experience in Property Management & Office Administration which has taught me excellent organization & management skills in the home sector.
How much time should I plan to be involved in the process?
You will need to be there for the initial consultation & the sorting process of ‘keep, toss or donate’. Time is dependent on the scope of the project & how quickly you are able to make decisions on what stays & what goes. Once we have pared down & categorized your items, we can usually take things from there. We take into consideration your goal & preferences & how you would like your space to be organized.
Our goal is to make the whole process easier for you. Some like to be involved & work side by side, others are happy for us to take charge. We practice good time management & work efficiently to accomplish as much as possible within the time frame.
What locations do you service?
Kiwi Decluttering offers Professional Home Organizing services in San Clemente and surrounding nearby suburbs such as Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Ladera Ranch, Rancho Mission Veijo, Aliso Veijo, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Beach, Newport, Irvine.
If travel is more than 25 miles return trip a travel fee may be charged. Feel free to make an enquiry to find out if we can service your area.
How long does home organizing take?
This depends on the scope of the project. Each home varies in the size & complexity & the volume of items that need to be sorted or removed. A kitchen organization project could be completed in one or two sessions. Are you interested in several spaces organized or just one room?
All of this depends on how detailed you would like things to be & the amount of items that remain once the space is cleared.
If it is a larger ongoing project & the time you have available is limited, we can break it up into several manageable sessions. The minimum hourly requirement per session is 4 hours and the maximum can be up to 9 hours. Usually garage projects are one full day or more depending on the job.
Can you assist with removing items?
Yes. Each session includes a complimentary load of items taken for a donation at no additional cost. We want you can see visible results of a clear space straight away so this is all part of the service. If you have a larger quantity to be donated we can arrange for a local service to pick up the donations.
We also have excellent local resources and reputable companies whom we use for Junk & Trash Removal for an additional fee.
How many organizers will my project need?
Typically one on one individual services are offered for a minimum of 4 hours. For clients that are in need of the project to be completed in less time, we can arrange for a team of 2-4 organizers. Your project is customized to your needs & depends on your timeline & preferences. Unpacking new homes will require more organizers & a longer day would be scheduled, so that we can efficiently have your home ready as soon as possible for you to settle into. All of this can be discussed in your consultation so that we can best suit your needs & expectations.
Can you unpack my new home?
Absolutely. We can efficiently unpack everything & have your belongings arranged & organized in a aesthetically pleasing way. From the kitchen to the pantry, bedroom closets & clothing drawers, kids rooms, & even the garage. We will take away all the boxes & packaging so that you have no waste to get rid of. Enjoy a smoother transition in allowing us to help you settle into your home faster & with less stress.
Do I have to become a minimalist to be organized?
No, you don’t have to be a minimalist to be organized. Organization is about creating systems that work for you, not about owning as little as possible. We will never force you to part with things that are highly valued by you. But to have an organized space, one does need to declutter first. When we reduce the excess, this immediately paves the way for a more sustainable and simpler living environment.
Minimalism makes organization easier since there’s less to manage. The thing to recognize is that organizing all your things does not create more space, rather decluttering creates more space. Just because you have the space does not mean that you need to fill it.
Some questions to ask yourself are:
- Are you overwhelmed by your things?
- Do you have the mental capacity for all the excess or is it distracting & consuming you?
- Is it more difficult to put away & tidy your things because of the sheer volume?
- Do the things you own bring you joy?
The key is balance — avoiding clutter and chaos. We will always encourage you to keep only the things that add value & benefit you & your family.
What are the benefits to decluttering & organizing?
Being organized is not about having the perfect home, nor is it about buying fancy containers & products. The benefits of decluttering & organizing can improve our quality of life, it can transform how we live & our daily habits.
Many express the benefits of decluttering are life changing…

Yes. Ideally we like to get a thorough idea of the project ahead of time in person, however we are happy for you to send through photos of your space & we can still arrange for the work to commence. We can also schedule a video consultation, so that we can get a better picture of your space.
An agreement will be sent to you, to be signed along with a deposit request to secure your scheduled job booking.
What is your process for decluttering & organizing?
Using the simple ‘SPACE’ method, this process can be applied for almost any space.
1. SORT – Sort & categorizing all items.
2. PURGE – Determine which items will be discarded or donated.
3. ASSIGN – Plan & organize the space & designate zones for like items
4. CONTAIN – Use containers / baskets or dividers to create a home for everything & complete with labels.
5. EVALUATE – Assess & evaluate all zones. Analyze if the system created is suitable for your needs & sustainable.
How do I maintain my organized space?
Hopefully with the new systems in place you will see major improvement in helping to keep things tidy. After a few weeks it is good to reevaluate what is working & what might not be working.
** A complimentary 30 minute follow up is offered one month after the project to see how the space is working for you.
Are some items difficult to access? Is it easy for others in the household to follow?
Would you benefit from having more things edited from your space? Could some items be better stored elsewhere?
Often times a little refining here or there or another simple solution is all that is needed to fix the problem.
Remember – Decluttering is an ongoing journey & work in progress, rather than a one-time fix. Embracing lifestyle changes can take time to adjust to, especially as we train ourselves to adopt new habits. But with persistence in regularly re-evaluating & making necessary adjustments, you are bound to experience positive benefits!
